The teacher will show students the list of ingredients of an apple pie and give the students the problem: What would happen if there were no grocery stores? How would you get your food? Over the next few days, you are going to determine what you would do if this really happened. You will be given a recipe for an apple pie. You have to virtually travel around the world to find the natural resources to make the pie. So, how do you make an apple pie and see the world? Then, the teacher will show the students a PowerPoint game of natural resources.

Ongoing Assessments: Students will be closely monitored as they are practicing using the Internet to ensure on task behavior and appropriate use of Internet searches. Teacher will ask questions and keep students on task.

Accommodations and Extensions: An advanced reader, an on-level reader, and a strategic intervention reader will be in each group and research the places in which the natural resources are found. By working in these collaborative groups, students can have the assistance of their peers while participating in an engaging lesson. Also, the teacher and Title I Paraprofessional will assist as needed.

Back-Up Plan: The PowerPoint will be saved, and can be printed if the Mobi or projector is not working. If the computer lab is not working, students can view online searches as whole class.

Lesson Reflections and Notes: The activity will be monitored by observation and questioning.
